Host a Staff Focus Grop

Hosting a focus group allows leaders to hear from a select group of staff about a specific topic.

Focus groups can offer a deeper dive into a specific department or specialty within your organization or can offer staff a chance to give feedback.

Do you have a concern about turnover in a specific department? Have staff expressed concern about a specific policy or procedure? Do you have an upcoming project that staff would appreciate advising? Those are perfect opportunities to host a focus group!

The University of Arizona in Tucson says focus groups are “useful in understanding how or why people hold certain beliefs about a topic or program of interest.” Remember, focus groups need to offer a safe and open environment where staff are comfortable providing honest feedback. Consider how you will create a safe space prior to hosting.
