Abbott Extends Use of BinaxNOW Antigen Testing Cards

Abbott labs petitioned the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last week to extend the use life of their BinaxNOW antigen testing cards, and the FDA approved the change.

The extension allows for the use of the BinaxNOW cards for nine months past the expiration date listed on the tests. For example, if the expiration date on the test is Nov. 9, 2021, with the nine-month extension, the updated expiration date would be Aug. 9, 2022.

The state of Minnesota has released a list of antigen testing card lot numbers that are covered by this extension for reference.
