Age-Friendly Minnesota Community Grant Program Launch
Community grants of up to $99,000 are being offered by the Age-Friendly Minnesota Council in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Human Services. As the first step in this process, communities can submit an interest form by Aug. 1. A virtual Responders Conference will be held during the application period to address applicant questions.
Organizations, individuals, and communities can apply to fund the development of plans, policies, programs, and environments that promote the dignity and autonomy of older Minnesotans. The Council defines communities broadly and includes neighborhoods, towns, cities, counties, tribes, affinity groups, faith communities, and others. Funds can be used to adopt and implement frameworks such as Age-Friendly Communities, Health Systems, Universities, or Public Health. Communities could also adopt other frameworks or processes to begin or expand age-friendly work or undertake an age-friendly effort apart from a particular framework.
Two levels of community grants ($25,000-$99,000 and up to $24,999) are being offered for a 15-month grant cycle from Jan. 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024. Technical Assistance Provider grants are also being offered to assist communities in applying for Community Grants and for implementing Age-Friendly practices. For more information, click here.
