Governor Proclaims November as “Celebrate Caring Careers Month” — Plan Your Celebration
Mark your calendar! November is now officially “Celebrate Caring Careers Month”, a statewide celebration and the chance to recognize the people who help older Minnesotans live with dignity and independence.
Governor Tim Walz recently signed a proclamation making this official. This recognition is dedicated to the 400,000 Minnesotans working in Caring Careers playing important roles in our communities.
November is a time to uplift caring professionals, with many working in aging services and providing invaluable care to meet residents’ everyday needs. Caring professions continue to be a priority field as demand grows. As Minnesota’s population ages, the proclamation calls attention to the need for more people to choose these vital careers.
To celebrate your caring professionals and the signed proclamation, we invite you to host your own Caring Careers Celebration at your organization. The best celebrations take a little planning; you could invite lawmakers, community leaders, and even job seekers into your community throughout November.

- Invite lawmakers for a site visit. Legislators make decisions that shape the long-term care workforce. Meeting your staff and seeing the work firsthand helps them understand the dedication and impact of their roles.
- Give tours to community leaders, families, and neighbors. A short tour or thank-you gathering shows your community the skill and care behind the work.
- Plan a job fair or a hiring open house. November is a natural time to show job seekers the range of roles you offer. Hiring events can be listed on the CareerForce calendar at CareerForce.MN.gov/events.
- Host students. Reach out to local high schools, colleges, and Adult Basic Education programs about tours and job shadows. You can use CaringCareersStartHere.com for resources to help explain aging services.
- Honor care workers. Complete and present this fillable certificate to those who make care possible.
Every thanks and every visit are chances to help more people see the value in this workforce. Share the proclamation with your team and use it as a reason to invite lawmakers and community leaders to visit and celebrate your site.
