The Governor’s Council on an Age-Friendly Minnesota has developed draft recommendations and is seeking input from the public. The comment period is open through July 31. 

You can review the Governor's Council recommendations here. There are nine recommendations: 

• Support efforts for the State of Minnesota to enroll in the WHO/AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. 
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all age-friendly work at the outset of all issues.
• Provide resources and support to local communities to adopt age-friendly policies, plans, and practices. 
• Create a sustainable, ongoing infrastructure within the administration to support Age-Friendly Minnesota work.
• Support the development of a framework and/or analytical tool that State agencies can use to analyze their policies and programs through an age-friendly lens, including a first step of an initial evaluation of existing policies and programs. 
• Establish a repository of resources to inform the Age-Friendly Minnesota process post-enrollment for policymakers, the public, and professionals in the world of aging (i.e., Gaps Analysis, MN 2030, comprehensive plans, MN diverse elders LTSS study, etc.).
• Add emergency preparedness as a unique domain in Age-Friendly Minnesota’s ongoing work.
• Formulate plan to fill gaps in service, including access to broadband and cellular phone service.
• The Minnesota Legislature is instrumental in ensuring Age-Friendly policies and resources are supportive and available to communities across Minnesota. Develop a plan to intersect with the legislature and relevant committees (Senate Committee on Family Care and Aging, and House Long-Term Care Division).
