HCBS Enrolled Provider Revalidation Expands to More Settings
This week, Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) expanded the revalidation process to include Home and Community-Based Services providers with practice names starting with the letter R and those beginning with S through Z previously not sent a revalidation letter.
LeadingAge Minnesota members this impacts include customized living (assisted living) and adult day services providers.
About Revalidation
If you are currently enrolled to provide services paid through the waiver programs, you must revalidate your enrollment records at least once every five years. Providers of waiver services who are due for revalidation and do not complete the process as required will have payments suspended.
Review Provider Screening Requirements in the MHCP Provider Manual for more information about revalidation.
Visit the Minnesota Provider Screening and Enrollment (MPSE) Portal webpage to learn more about using the MPSE Portal.
Provider types
Revalidation for the next set of providers began on Nov. 1. Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) sent revalidation notices in November to the following provider types:
- Financial Management Services (FMS) – provider type 38
- Hospitals – provider type 01
- Hospice – provider type 02
- Durable Medical Supplies – provider type 76
- Transportation providers – provider type 82
- Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention organizations – provider type EI
- Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) providers – provider type 18 with practice names starting with letters R and S through Z, previously not sent a revalidation letter in 2022.
Providers due for revalidation received a revalidation notice in the PRVLTR folder of their MN–ITS mailbox on Nov. 1. MHCP will mail the revalidation notice via the U.S. Postal Service to the credentialing address on the enrollment record if the provider has not set up a MN–ITS mailbox. Do not send any revalidation documents until you receive your initial revalidation notice.
If you are enrolled as more than one provider type, you will receive a separate notice for each type. If you are consolidated and have more than one file for a provider type, you will receive one notice with instructions to send the required information for each file.
Timeline
You have 30 days from the date on the notice to upload your required documents in the Minnesota Provider Screening and Enrollment (MPSE) portal or fax in all required documents.
If MHCP does not receive all the required information, it will send you a request for more information (RFMI) notice asking for the remaining required information to complete revalidation. This information is due 30 days from the date on the RFMI notice.
If MHCP does not receive all required information 30 days after the RFMI notice date, it will send you a 60-day notice of termination, including provider appeal rights and options for reenrolling after termination.
