HUD Funding Signed Into Law
After a brief government shutdown and continued uncertainty on a final appropriations bill, funding that supports affordable housing for seniors was signed into law this week.
The bill provides $678 million for the Section 202 program, including $51 million for new Section 202 capital advances and project-based assistance, $90 million for Service Coordinator renewals, and $10 million for a new grant program that will make safety and functional home modification repairs to meet the needs of low-income elderly persons so they can remain in their homes.
The bill also includes $1.747 billion to support the operating subsidy for two-thirds of Section 202 communities, $1.25 million for HOME funding, and increased funding for the public housing and housing choice voucher programs.
