Long-Term Care Takes a Lead Role on Antibiotic Stewardship

November 28, 2018
By Jodi Boyne

Nearly 40 hospitals and long-term care settings across Minnesota earned a shout out from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) for contributing to antibiotic stewardship efforts beyond their walls.

The recognition came as a part of Antibiotic Awareness Week in Minnesota that coincided with national and international activities designed to raise awareness of the problem of antibiotic resistance and the urgent need to address it through appropriate antibiotic prescribing and use.

Twenty-nine long-term care organizations made the Antibiotic Stewardship Honor Roll, with 19 reaching Gold Level status and five each achieving Silver Level and Bronze Level status. The list includes many LeadingAge Minnesota members from around the state. To see the complete list, visit Minnesota Antibiotic Stewardship Honor Roll website.
