MAGIC Releases Suggested Influenza Protocols for the 2022-2023 Flu Season
This week the Minnesota Association for Geriatric Inspired Clinicians (MAGIC) released suggested protocols for influenza in long-term care for the 2022-2023 flu season. The release includes a letter outlining the basics for influenza control in long-term care settings and a sample Influenza Protocol for Recognition, Diagnosis, Treatment & Prophylaxis for Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Facilities.
Are the MAGIC documents required in nursing homes and assisted living?
These documents are not required for use in our settings. MAGIC is an association, similar to LeadingAge Minnesota, for long-term care medical directors. The subcommittee MAGIC Alliance for Clinical Excellence (ACE) is a group of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who meet to put together evidence-based protocols for the management of various conditions or situations in long-term care settings. These tools and resources are valuable and are here for your use should you choose to use them.
