Mandatory Consultation Confirmation Codes Changing – LTCC Recodified

The Senior LinkAge Line will be updating their verification codes, which will have a slightly different look than previously generated codes. The change is anticipated to take effect in April.

Senior LinkAge Line staff assist individuals looking to move to a licensed assisted living, help to compare choices to meet the person's needs, and ensure the move is the right one for the individual. After receiving assistance, the individual receives a verification code. The format of the codes, which have been generated for people moving into aging services settings since 2011, is changing slightly. In the coming weeks, the code will still have the letters “SL” followed by a series of digits unique to each individual. Lead agency staff also generate a code from MMIS, and those codes begin with “LA,” followed by a series of digits unique to each individual. The MMIS-generated codes will remain unchanged.

As previously reported, the change from housing with services registration to the assisted living license temporarily removed the requirement for an assisted living to refer an applicant for a Long-term Care Consultation (LTCC) and retain a copy of the confirmation code. However, the state has intended that the requirement still applies. A bill, HF 4065, is now moving through the legislature to “recodify” the language in the statute to apply the requirement to licensed assisted living settings. When the process is completed, the law will read in part:

An assisted living facility licensed under chapter 144G shall:

To review the entire requirement, including exemptions, see HF 4065.
