MDH Reopens Basic and Temporary Home Care License Application Process

July 21, 2021
By Jonathan Lips

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has reopened the application process for basic and temporary home care licenses as of July 16.

MDH had previously suspended the review of temporary home care licenses applications due to the COVID-19 pandemic on April 8, 2020. However, with Minnesota's COVID-19 peacetime emergency ending on July 1, the agency has begun the process of resuming its standard operations.

Providers can now apply for temporary basic and temporary comprehensive home care licensure. Applications will be processed in the order they were received, starting with applications that were submitted and then suspended due to the COVID-19 peacetime emergency.

If you have a question about the status of a previously submitted application, you may contact MDH using this form or by email or phone (651-201-4200). If you are not waiting for MDH to process a submitted-but-suspended application but instead would like to begin the process of licensing a new agency, the two forms are available here: Application for Home Care Licensure: Temporary Comprehensive Home Care and Temporary Basic Home Care license application.
