Mentoring Program for LPNs in Assisted Living: Exciting New Pilot Project Opportunity

September 23, 2020

LeadingAge Minnesota is partnering with The Center for Aging Research and Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing to work with a few select organizations to pilot

test an online residency program for LPNs working in assisted living.

Nurse residency programs (support for the transition from training to practice through informal mentoring, coaching, and learning) have been successful in improving nurse retention. LPN participants will improve their work satisfaction and engagement and elevate the care and quality of life for older adults.

The course includes on-line training on 16 topics, including infection control, pain management, cognitive changes, and resident quality of life. To reinforce the training and provide additional mentoring, LeadingAge Minnesota’s Kari Everson, RN, BSN, MSN, MHA, LNHA, Director of Clinical Care & Clinical Consultant, will be supplementing the on-line training with Central Coaching and Mentoring sessions.

We will be scheduling a brief webinar to provide additional details to interested organizations. If you are interested in learning more, contact Julie Apold, Vice President of Quality & Performance Excellence at japold@leadingagemn.org.
