By Jodi Boyne

We’ve added three new resources in our COVID-19 Tool Library that focus on what to do when a family member wants to move a loved one home, care for people with Alzheimer’s during COVID-19 and tips to improve infection control compliance.

Moving a Loved One Home – Discussion Guide & Resources: There has been increased media coverage on the topic of whether families should move their loved one from a nursing home or assisted living setting during COVID-19. To help you prepare to have this conversation with families and residents, we have prepared a discussion guide you can use with families as well as resources you can share with them, including support materials on caring for someone with dementia from the Alzheimer’s Association.

Caring for People with Alzheimer’s During COVID-19: The Alzheimer’s Association has developed new resources for long-term and community-based settings, as well as tips for dementia caregivers including those who work in assisted living.

Note: LeadingAge MN is also developing a new toolkit on Caring for People with Dementia during COVID-19 that should be released this week.

Tips to Improve Hand Hygiene and PPE Compliance: This fact sheet provides key tips to improve your infection control compliance, including videos on How to Don and Doff PPE and posters you can use with your staff team.

COMING SOON: LeadingAge MN will soon release a Preparing for the Surge toolkit, and sample policies on related to COVID-19 measures such as staff screenng, confirmed case resposne, visitor restrictions, cohorting, and infection control related to the pandemic.
