LALD License Renewal Starts Soon - 30 Continuing Education Credits Required

This week the Board of Executives for Long-term Services and Supports (BELTSS) issued a notice to licensees that license renewal begins Sept. 1 and will conclude Oct. 31, 2024. To renew, the licensee must have earned 30 Continuing Education Credits between Sept.1, 2022 and Aug. 31, 2024, if originally licensed on or before Oct. 2022.
Less than One Week Left to Comment on Nursing Home Workforce Standards Board Minimum Wage Rule

The first Nursing Home Workforce Standards Board rule is currently open for public comments until July 24. The proposed rule would require minimum wages of $22.50 for CNAs, $23.50 for TMAs, $27 for LPNs and $19 for all other nursing home employees effective Jan. 1, 2026.

Nurse Aide Knowledge Test Requires a New Passing Score of 74%

Effective Aug. 5, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is adjusting the score required to pass the Nurse Aide Knowledge Test from 76% to 74%. Candidates will need to correctly answer 52 questions (out of 70) in order to receive a passing score.
State Housing Tax Credit Funding Open for Applications

The State Housing Tax Credit Program and Contribution Fund (SHTC Contribution Program) is a new statewide program that provides funding to help finance affordable multifamily and single-family housing developments.

CMS Panel Recommends New Measures for Post-Acute and Hospice Providers

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Technical Expert Panel (TEP) report on the development of additional cross-setting measures for the post-acute care (PAC) (including home health and skilled nursing) and Hospice quality reporting programs (QRP), and filling measurement gaps with CMS’ Universal Foundation measures on July 8. This report summarizes input provided by a TEP on December 15, 2023.

Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) released a discussion draft about hospice reform on June 13 titled, “The Hospice Care Accountability, Reform, and Enforcement (CARE) Act of 2024.” The Hospice CARE Act is in draft form but would transform and make the biggest changes to the Medicare Hospice Benefit since the benefit’s inception in 1982.
