Senior LinkAge Line Reminder: Medicare Open Enrollment Begins Oct. 15

LeadingAge MN members are encouraged to share the following information with their residents: Medicare Open Enrollment will begin on Oct. 15 and run through Dec. 7. Senior LinkAge Line^®, the state’s designated State Health Insurance & Assistance Program (SHIP), provides unbiased counseling and support to Medicare beneficiaries who would like to review their plan options. As a result, the Senior LinkAge Line’s call volume and wait time may be longer than usual during this busy time of the year.  

Please remind prospective residents to press Option 1 when they are calling the Senior LinkAge Line for options counseling. The Senior LinkAge Line contact centers do staff up each year for Open Enrollment to try and combat the increase in calls but wait times will be longer.

Prospective residents signing a lease should also make sure they have a Medicare plan that will meet their needs for the 2020 year, especially if they have moved to live closer to a family member.
