2023 Long-Term Care Imperative Workforce Survey

The workforce survey found that the staffing challenges faced by providers are not improving and continue to impact access to needed care.  High vacancy rates and staff turnover continue to plague care centers and assisted living providers throughout the state. Care centers are in a particularly tough spot, with more than 20% vacancy rates for nursing staff, high turnover of staff, including more than 80% for nursing assistants in 2022, and a net loss of total employees of 15% since the beginning of the Covid pandemic.

The survey was conducted in the first month of 2023 and sent to all LeadingAge Minnesota and Care Providers of Minnesota members. 200 assisted living settings and 97 care centers responded.
