Assisted Living and Nursing Home Infection Reporting

LeadingAge Minnesota has developed a resource for members to help clarify the complex and often confusing infectious illness reporting requirements for our nursing home and assisted living members.

Reporting information about infectious illnesses, including influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), is often required in our settings. Two reporting mechanisms are in place to collect data, including the National Health and Safety Network (NHSN) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). Each assisted living and nursing homes have different reporting requirements depending on the infectious disease.

To create more clarity around reporting requirements and provide a tool to assist our members, LeadingAge Minnesota created a reporting reference document.

Reporting Infection Reference Document

This reference document includes the reporting requirements for nursing homes and assisted living organizations for influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 and links to the reporting sites for MDH.
