Positive Communication Skills for Leaders in A Time of Crisis

Purpose

During crisis events leaders in senior care and services settings face extreme pressure to respond to a multitude of situations. You are expected to answer tough questions and respond to resident, family, staff and community concerns in a calm, clear, reassuring and positive manner. Stress and fatigue can affect our communications and we might not even be aware of how they might negatively impact others. This webinar will explore tips and techniques you can use to monitor and improve your communication skills in ways that support your team, your organization and empathetically address the fears and concerns of others.

Learning Objectives

• Recognize how stress and burnout can negatively impact your communication with others. • Discuss key strategies for communicating with empathy and compassion when loved ones, residents and staff are upset and fearful. • Review tips to balance effective and positive messaging to address needs while setting boundaries. • Take away ideas to help minimize the effect of stress and burnout on communications with others.
