Career Pathway Presentations

Get involved with your local high school by offering career presentations.

Connections with local high schools are a great way to get young people thinking about careers in our field. Maybe you’ll even see some immediate applications for entry level positions such as direct caregivers or dietary aides!

What should you do?

Connect with your local schools to offer the following:

  • Present to Career Tech students about career pathways available in aging services
  • Present to Family and Consumer Sciences students about the aging adult (many of these courses offer a unit on child development – offer to speak about older adult development!)
  • Offer to bring pizza or sandwiches to students over the lunch hour – you get to with students and students get to have a special lunch!
  • Offer volunteer or service learning opportunities – many schools require these hours for graduation or course credit

To make this even easier for members, LeadingAge has created a slide deck that anyone can use when making presentations to high school students - feel free to customize as needed.
