2026 Workplace Safety Grant Opportunity

Posted on April 23, 2026 by Julie Apold

The Office of Rural Health and Primary Care has opened the application period for the 2026 Workplace Safety Grants for Health Care Entities. Application submissions are due by 4:30 p.m. on June 12.

Long-term care facilities are eligible to apply for funding with awards up to $50,000 per award.

This grant program is focused on preventing workplace violence by supporting projects that enhance safety measures in health care settings and establish or expand staff training on de-escalation and supportive response strategies. The overarching goal is to improve safety and stability for staff  and residents.

Applicants are encouraged to consider activities that:

  • Mitigate the risk of workplace violence
  • Strengthen responses to safety incidents
  • Support the well-being of staff and residents during and after incidents
  • Improve reporting of workplace safety incidents, including workplace violence

Organizations with multiple locations may submit up to three applications for distinct projects at different locations, or one application for a project spanning multiple locations. Awards are capped at $50,000 per application, regardless of the number of sites involved.
