New Information: Phase 2 of HCBS Provider Attestation

We received a few questions from members last week regarding the communication sent by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) related to Phase 2 of provider attestation. In an Advisory Committee call with the department this week, we clarified that if you have completed an attestation for your setting, you do not need to complete anything for Phase 2.

A new survey process for Skilled Nursing Facilities will begin, coinciding with the implementation of the Phase 2 Requirements of Participation for care centers on Nov. 28, 2017. A two-part webinar series on Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 will explore the structure of the new survey process, the sample selection utilized, the new interpretive guidelines providers will need to learn and what to expect from surveyors during the survey process.

CMS Highlights New Information About Legionella

Nine crowd-pleasing presentations on quality improvement designed to transform care at the bedside were the highlight of last month’s Health Support Specialist Fall (HSS) Learning Lab. OnTrack Nursing Assistant Training Preparing for Launch

It was announced earlier this month that the OnTrack Nursing Assistant Training program has been approved by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). This was a huge step for the new program, created to remove barriers experienced by providers, while creating an interactive, affordable, online, and on-demand product.

The Benedictine Health System (BHS) Board of Directors has named Jerry Carley as President/CEO effective Jan. 3, 2018. Carley replaces Rocklon B. “Rocky” Chapin who announced his retirement in March 2017.

Adult Day: Important Information on Positive Supports Rule

The Positive Supports Rule governs the use of positive support strategies and restrictive interventions for DHS-license holders serving a person with a developmental disability or related condition, or any person receiving a 245D-licensed service. The use of these strategies and less restrictive interventions are designed to improve a person’s quality of life.

Ecumen Sells Alexandria and Chisago City Campuses to Monarch Healthcare Management

Ecumen leaders announced today that Ecumen Bethany Community in Alexandria and Ecumen Parmly LifePointes in Chisago City are being sold to Monarch Healthcare Management. Ecumen will retain ownership of Point Pleasant Heights in Chisago City, an independent living community not attached to the Parmly campus.
