Assisted Living Directors Encouraged to Complete Questionnaire from OLA
Posted on October 16, 2025 by Bobbie Guidry
This week, the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) will send out a questionnaire to licensed directors of assisted living facilities in Minnesota. We encourage you and other assisted living directors in your organization to participate by completing the questionnaire and answering the OLA’s questions.
OLA Report
Your answers to the questionnaire will be used for a report OLA is preparing on the licensing of assisted living facilities in Minnesota. The introduction of assisted living facility licensing in 2021 was a substantial change in how Minnesota regulated assisted living facilities.
Four years into the licensure process, legislators and stakeholders have questions about how well MDH has implemented the Legislature’s intent and the extent to which licensure has improved facility operations and resident experiences. Responses to the questionnaire, along with other research by OLA, will inform the report, which is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2026.
It is important for OLA to hear from our members. OLA’s reports are often influential and can lead to changes in law or in how agencies carry out their responsibilities.
If you have questions about the questionnaire or OLA’s work, you can contact OLA evaluation coordinator David Kirchner at david.kirchner@state.mn.us.
