Matt Johnson, Physical Therapist, and Rob Hendrickson, Occupational Therapist, were recently awarded the Make Zero Harm Possible Award. The award recognizes staff in older adult service settings who demonstrate their commitment to safe, quality care and to treating the people they serve with respect and dignity – always.  

LeadingAge Minnesota recently mailed out complimentary copies of the 2019 compensation reports for care centers and senior housing providers to members who participated in those surveys. Copies of those reports are now available for purchase by members who did not participate.

Seniors living in 78 Twin Cities-area long-term care and assisted living communities will have a new Medicare Advantage health coverage option to select for 2020 coverage if they qualify for its coverage requirements.  

Governor Tim Walz announced last week that Shirly Barnes, CEO of Crest View Senior Communities, has been re-appointed to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board. 

Mitch Boser, Environmental Services Director at Elim Care & Rehab Center in Princeton, recently received the Make Zero Harm Possible Award from LeadingAge Minnesota. 

In recognition of their leadership to the field of the aging services and their many contributions to LeadingAge Minnesota, Mike Demmer and Craig Kittelson were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards.  

Advocate: To change “what is” into “what should be.” LeadingAge Minnesota is pleased to present this year’s Spirit of Advocacy recipients – Deb Barnes, Lakeview Methodist Care Center in Fairmont, Kim Wraalstad, North Shore Health in Grand Marais; and Knute Nelson in Alexandria. 

LeadingAge Minnesota members last week elected two new members to the Board of Directors: Cami Peterson Devries, Vice President and Corporate Compliance and Ethics/Leadership Development for St. Francis Health Services of Morris, Inc.; and Kimber Wraalstad, CEO and Administrators of North Shore Health in Grand Marais. 

Assisted Living/Home Care nurses won't want to miss the ALNET meetings in October where we will discuss top survey trends and regulations, professional practice, quality of care and more. The Duluth and the Twin Cities Metro Area meetings feature guest speakers from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the law firm Voigt, Rode, Boxeth & Coffin.

Morshed (Mo) Alam, has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Ecumen, effective Sept. 30.
