HUD Postpones Service Coordinator Funding Deadline to May
Posted on April 4, 2024 by Bobbie Guidry
The new deadline to apply for Service Coordinator grants is May 23. Frequently asked questions (FAQs) from Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are still forthcoming.
On April 2, HUD again postponed the application deadline for the agency’s current Service Coordinator funding opportunity. The Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) materials have been updated on grants.gov to reflect the new deadline of May 23. HUD also updated the NOFO materials to remove the equal opportunity form requirement from page 18.
Upon announcing the funding opportunity in early calendar year 2024, HUD originally posted a deadline in March, then postponed it to April 9 due to delays in providing supporting materials for applications.
HUD has not yet issued the FAQ document for the NOFO, which LeadingAge helped develop. HUD confirmed to LeadingAge that the additional deadline postponement does not indicate major changes to the application process but rather will provide more time for applicants to review materials provided by HUD in support of the application process, including the forthcoming FAQ document.
The current NOFO is the first new grant funding for Service Coordinators in HUD-assisted Multifamily Housing in approximately ten years, and many LeadingAge members are applying to add or expand Service Coordination at their affordable housing communities.
Service Coordinators are critical to supporting older adults as they age in community. LeadingAge, our national partner, has made many resources available for members applying for the grants, including sample Supportive Services Plans, a checklist for a complete application, and training.
