Keeping Pace with Change: OnTrack’s Commitment to Current, Responsive Training
Posted on June 11, 2026 by Anna Mowry
OnTrack helps providers stay ahead of changing healthcare standards by delivering CNA and TMA training that is current, relevant, and responsive to workforce needs.
A Commitment to Staying Current
Keeping curriculum current isn't always easy. As many curriculums work through lengthy update and approval processes, important changes can take months—or even years—to reach the classroom.
That's why OnTrack prioritizes continuous improvement and timely updates. By staying responsive to changing standards, best practices, and workforce needs, we help ensure learners and employers benefit from training that reflects today's realities, not yesterday's requirements.
Building on a Proven Foundation
Since launching in 2018, the OnTrack Nursing Assistant program has trained more than 10,000 individuals and supported workforce development efforts across Minnesota.
This commitment to innovation has fueled continued expansion of OnTrack’s programs, including new career pathways, support for multilingual learners, and ongoing curriculum enhancements designed to meet the evolving needs of employers and students alike.
OnTrack’s programs also create opportunities beyond traditional providers. Community-based organizations, workforce agencies, and regional collaboratives can partner with employers or establish training programs themselves to expand access to healthcare career pathways throughout Minnesota.
Expanding Career Pathways with TMA Training
Earlier this year, OnTrack introduced a new Trained Medication Aide (TMA) training program, approved by the Minnesota Department of Health. This hybrid model combines online and in-person learning to create a flexible pathway for caregivers to advance their careers while helping organizations meet growing workforce needs.
Developed in response to provider and workforce partner feedback, the TMA program offers an accessible and scalable training solution for organizations seeking to strengthen their workforce pipelines.
Strengthening Outcomes for Multilingual Learners
OnTrack has also expanded support for multilingual learners in Nursing Assistant (CNA) programs, addressing a key barrier facing many individuals entering the healthcare workforce.
To better support learners whose first language is not English, OnTrack now offers translated Learning Journals and supplemental resources in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong alongside standard English instruction.
This approach maintains all existing standards while improving how learners engage with the material:
- All instruction and competency expectations remain in English.
- Translated Learning Journals and supplemental resources reinforce comprehension.
- Additional support, including translated practice exams and introductory materials, helps learners build confidence and strengthen understanding while meeting the same expectations as all students.
With support from the Minnesota Department of Human Services GEAR Division and the LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation, these multilingual training materials are currently available at no cost for a limited time.
