Next Assisted Living Resident and Family Satisfaction Surveys to be Conducted in 2024
Posted on September 14, 2023 by Bobbie Guidry
The next round of assisted living resident and family satisfaction surveys will be conducted in 2024, starting in January and occurring throughout the year in four regions.
Background
In 2019 and 2020, the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Minnesota Board on Aging developed new resident quality-of-life and family satisfaction surveys for assisted living communities. In 2022-2023, most facilities with an assisted living license through the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and a capacity to serve twenty or more residents were asked to participate in statewide data collection using these surveys.
DHS contracts with Vital Research, an independent survey firm, to conduct the surveys and ensure the confidentiality of all resident and family responses. Vital Research works collaboratively with DHS throughout the entire length of the project.
What you can expect
While the 2022 surveys began in October, the next round will start later, with surveys beginning in January and occurring nearly the entire year of 2024. DHS is focusing on one region of the state at a time, with four defined areas.
DHS will send letters to the directors of the assisted living communities in the first region in mid-December and will send letters to the assisted living settings in each region roughly a month before surveys start in their respective areas.
For more information on the surveys and report cards developed from these and licensing survey data, see the DHS AL Report Card webpage.
