Phil Fisher Named Spirit of Aging Award Recipient by LeadingAge Minnesota

Posted on February 9, 2023 by Libbie Chapuran

Philip Fisher was chosen to receive this year’s Spirit of Aging Award for giving so much to others during his life.

The Spirit of Aging Award honors an older adult who exemplifies the concept of positive and active aging. Fisher was selected from a pool of nominations submitted by a field of 750 senior care organizations throughout the state.

A resident at Martin Luther Manor in Bloomington, MN, he passed away a few months after he learned of this award.

Fisher could often be found zooming about campus on his electric scooter with a greeting for other residents and visitors. Staff relied on him to cheer them up and make them smile with a joke or two

Mr. Fisher was honored posthumously, and his wife Mrs. Susan Fisher accepted the award on his behalf, at the LeadingAge Minnesota Institute.
