Strengthen MDS Accuracy, Quality Outcomes, and Reimbursement Performance
Posted on May 7, 2026 by Sharon Hollister
Accurate MDS practice is critical to aligning resident care, quality outcomes, and financial performance. To support providers in strengthening this work, LeadingAge Minnesota is offering two in-person MDS training opportunities tailored to different experience levels.
A one-day workshop on July 16 is designed for experienced leaders, including Directors of Nursing, MDS Coordinators, Administrators, and clinical leaders. This session focuses on the connection between MDS coding and key performance indicators such as Five-Star ratings, Quality Reporting Program (QRP) results, and Value-Based Purchasing (VBP). Participants will gain practical strategies to identify documentation gaps, improve Section GG accuracy, and implement audit-ready practices that reduce risk and protect revenue.
For those newer to MDS, a two-day intensive workshop on November 12–13 provides a comprehensive foundation. This training covers core MDS sections, care area assessments, care planning workflows, and OBRA and PPS scheduling. Participants will also be introduced to Medicare coverage criteria and the fundamentals of PDPM reimbursement, helping them build confidence in accurate and compliant MDS completion.
Both workshops will take place at the Minnesota Humanities Center in St. Paul and will be led by Marilyn Ramirez, MSN, RN, RAC-CTA, WCC, Executive Vice President of MDS Solutions.
By participating, organizations can strengthen consistency across roles, reduce errors, and reinforce the critical link between documentation, care quality, and reimbursement.
