Build the operational leadership skills needed to manage today’s complex long-term care environment.
Registration is open for the 2026 Operations Certificate Program, a comprehensive professional development opportunity designed for leaders and operational staff in assisted living and care center communities. This program provides practical tools and strategies to strengthen operational leadership in long-term care settings.
Through expert-led presentations, discussion, and case-based learning, participants will build skills in leadership, regulatory compliance, workforce management, quality improvement, and financial operations.
Program Details
- Session 1 (April 1–2): Effective Leadership and Team Dynamics — leadership styles, ethical decision-making, resilience and self-care, staff engagement, retention strategies, and conflict resolution
- Session 2 (April 28–29): Surveys, Contracts, and Legal Compliance — managing the survey process, plans of correction, technology and innovation in care settings, and cybersecurity fundamentals
- Session 3 (May 27–28): Workplace Readiness and Safety — hiring and retention strategies, HR compliance, OSHA workplace safety requirements, and emergency preparedness planning
- Session 4 (June 17–18): Driving Quality and Financial Success — QAPI, root cause analysis, quality measures, and billing and collections for assisted living and nursing homes
- Session 5 (July 8–9): Budgeting and Technology Innovation — financial and capital budgeting, value-based payment programs, pricing strategies, and construction and contract considerations

The Nurse Lunch and Learn Webinar Series returns this spring, designed to deliver quick, practical education for busy nursing teams. These 30-minute virtual sessions, held over the lunch hour, combine a brief expert presentation with a short interactive exercise to help nurses apply learning immediately in their daily practice. Topics focus on common clinical challenges that affect resident care in both care centers and assisted living settings.

A nationally respected leadership program that has prepared nurse leaders in aging services for more than 30 years.
There is still time to invest in your nursing leadership team. Due to strong interest, the registration deadline for the 2026 Nurse Leadership Program has been extended to March 16.
For more than 30 years, this program has helped nurse leaders in aging services build the skills needed to lead effectively in today’s complex care environment. Participants strengthen leadership capabilities in areas such as regulatory compliance and survey readiness, workforce recruitment and retention, infection control, risk management, quality improvement, and financial and operational management. The program also offers opportunities to engage with regulators and state experts while building a strong professional network with peers across Minnesota.
