Virtual ALNET Meeting Resumes Next Month

The first quarterly meeting of the Assisted Living/Home Care Nurse Leaders Network (ALNET) is scheduled for Feb. 25 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. These meetings provide time and space to receive important updates on trending topics in clinical care. Participants experience valuable networking and with peers to share experiences, challenges, solutions and best practices.

Hosted by Kari Everson, Director of Clinical Care and Clinical Consultant, standing topics include regulatory and survey updates, quality improvement and more. This quarter’s meeting combines all regions. Register here

Be Prepared: MDH Releases New Assisted Living Survey Forms

As we have been anticipating, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Home Care and Assisted Living Program has released the new and updated survey forms for the Comprehensive and Temporary license. The forms are available on the MDH web site, and members will have a great opportunity to learn more about them and how surveyors will use them to determine your compliance at the June ALNET meetings.

MDH Survey Trends in Assisted Living Home Care

A recent analysis of Comprehensive Home Care licensed provider surveys revealed several trends. Of the top 10 correction orders written over the past four quarters, the top two -- Contents of Service Plan and TB Prevention and Control -- have remained constant, eight tags are consistently cited, and only two have entered or dropped out over the last four quarters. Also, there are now only three Tags cited in 50 percent of the surveys currently being conducted.   

ALNET to Address One of the Most Frequent Survey Tags: Medication Management

Medication management continues to be a frequently cited tag for Comprehensive Home Care surveys. Four of the 19 medication tags are in the top 10 most frequently cited almost 50 percent of the time. The October Assisted Living/Home Care Nurse Leader Network (ALNET) meetings will focus on medication management and provide information and resources to help you remain in compliance.
