Celebrating Kathy Erickson: Recipient of the 2024 Spirit of Aging Award

Posted on February 8, 2024 by Libbie Chapuran

LeadingAge Minnesota proudly announces Kathy Erickson, a vibrant resident of Walker Place in Minneapolis, as the distinguished recipient of the Spirit of Aging Award for 2024.

The Spirit of Aging Award recognizes older adults who embody the essence of positive and active aging. From a pool of nominations submitted by 750 senior care organizations across the state, Kathy Erickson stood out for her remarkable contributions to her community and beyond.

About Kathy

Kathy's impact transcends the confines of Walker Place. As a dedicated member of the Days for Girls organization, she travels the globe advocating for young women and girls who lack education about their bodies. Kathy's passion for sewing reusable feminine products has led her to deliver these essential items to women in African communities. However, her efforts go beyond mere charity; she empowers these women to create these products themselves, fostering sustainability and entrepreneurship.

About Institute

Kathy received her award at the LeadingAge Minnesota Institute & Expo, the state’s premier aging services conference. This annual event convenes over 3,000 professionals from various facets of older adult services, providing an opportunity to explore innovative programs, exchange best practices, and engage in networking.
