Independent Senior Living Takes Center Stage at New October Workshop
Posted on August 27, 2026 by Sharon Hollister
Independent senior living comes with its own opportunities—and its own tough operational challenges. Tackling the Tough Stuff: Operating Independent Senior Housing Today, a LeadingAge Minnesota workshop on Thursday, October 8, is designed specifically for professionals working in independent senior housing.
This practical, one-day program will tackle the issues property managers and housing leaders are navigating every day: maintaining strong occupancy, keeping communities safe and well maintained, supporting resident wellness and engagement, and responding when residents’ needs begin to change—all while respecting the independence that is at the heart of independent living.
Sessions will explore:
- Why occupancy matters—and practical strategies for generating leads, improving conversions, and reducing preventable turnover.
- Maintenance know-how for property managers, including what needs immediate attention and when it’s time to call in specialized expertise.
- Wellness on a small budget, with affordable ways to support residents’ independence, quality of life, and ability to age in place.
- What to do when residents’ needs change, including resources, reasonable accommodations, referral options, and strategies for helping residents remain safely housed or transition to additional support when needed.
Tackling the Tough Stuff: Operating Independent Senior Housing Today will be held from 10 a.m.–3:35 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Applewood Pointe of Eagan. Registration is $55 for LeadingAge Minnesota members and $75 for prospective members and includes morning beverages and a boxed lunch.
Registration is now open. Bring the questions you’re wrestling with and spend the day focused entirely on the realities of operating independent senior housing today.
