Leadership Begins by Stepping Away

Posted on July 23, 2026 by Sharon Hollister

Leadership has a funny paradox. The busier we become, the harder it is to find time to think strategically. Our calendars fill with meetings, emails, staffing issues, budgets, compliance requirements, and the countless decisions that keep our organizations moving forward.

Yet the strongest leaders understand that stepping away from daily operations isn't a luxury, it's part of the job.

Taking time to learn, reflect, and connect with peers creates the space to see challenges from a different perspective. It helps leaders anticipate what's coming next rather than simply reacting to what's in front of them today.

That's exactly what LeadingAge Minnesota's Annual Meeting & Leadership Forum has provided for generations of leaders.

Each year, the conference brings together CEOs, home office teams, regional leaders, and site leaders to explore the strategic issues shaping the future of aging services. National thought leaders, Minnesota experts, and peer discussions create opportunities to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and return home with practical insights that strengthen both leaders and their organizations.

This year's program will tackle topics including workforce, artificial intelligence, payment reform, consumer trends, organizational growth, and the future of senior care.

Whether you've attended Annual Meeting for years or are considering it for the first time, this is an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day and invest in the conversations that help leaders lead with greater confidence and clarity.

Annual Meeting is Sept. 15-18 at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, MN. Early bird registration is available through August 14. Click here to view the conference brochure, explore the agenda, apply for a scholarship, reserve lodging, and sign up for the golf tournament today.
