Liz Sether Announces Retirement

Posted on November 7, 2018 by Jodi Boyne

Liz Sether, LeadingAge Minnesota’s long-time Nurse Consultant/Policy Analyst, has decided that the time has come to retire. She will step down from her 27 years of service to our members on Dec. 14.

Throughout the arc of her long career, Liz has brought her unique expertise as a nurse, as a licensed nursing home administrator and as a masters-prepared health care leader to help the members of LeadingAge Minnesota improve care to seniors across the state.

“To say that she will be missed is a huge understatement, for Liz has been at the very heart of our work to support members in their clinical practices and to train and support nurse leaders across the continuum,” said Gayle Kvenvold, President and CEO, LeadingAge Minnesota. “While the specifics of her role have changed throughout the years, three things have remained constant—her love of the nursing profession, her commitment to those called to this work and her willingness to travel anywhere, at any time, in order to come alongside our members to support their work. Liz has long been the first call for help for nurse leaders and housing managers, CEO’s and administrators — and her reputation for integrity and knowledge in older adult services has also positioned her as a resource for our state agency partners and external stakeholders.”

“While we will miss her wisdom, her sense of humor, her Norwegian treats at Christmas, and her knowledge of the location of every Dairy Queen and corn maze in the state; we celebrate this new phase of life that we are certain will include more time for hunting, her beloved farm and time with friends and family,” Gayle added.

While we can never fill Liz’s shoes, we are moving forward with the process to fill the position of Director of Clinical Care & Nurse Consultant. Anyone interested in learning more about this position can view the job posting.

Please join us in congratulating Liz on an outstanding career, thanking her for the difference she has made in our lives and the lives of our members and those they serve, and in wishing her every possible happiness in the next chapters of her life.
