Safe Care for Seniors: Dec. is Hand Hygiene and Glove Month

Posted on December 2, 2020 by Julie Apold

Join Your Colleagues in Creating Safe Hand Hygiene and Glove Use Habits across our communities. The Living the Pledge Campaign monthly infection prevention campaign is now entering its second full month to help keep residents and fellow team members safe from harm.

It provides focused resources to empower everyone in your building to honor the Safe Care for Seniors Pledge to keep residents and staff safe from harm. Click here to learn more about the Living the Pledge Campaign.

What Can You Do?

Here are some actions you can take to support staff, residents and visitors to live the pledge in Dec.:

  1. Share information about Hand Hygiene and Glove Month with Staff, Residents, Families and Visitors
  2. Share a brief video on Safe Hand Hygiene and Glove Use
  3. Display a new Hand Hygiene and Glove Use Promotion Poster Each Week (or select 1 or more to use during the month).
  4. Use Living the Pledge Vouchers to “catch” staff practicing Safe Hand Hygiene and Glove Use Behaviors (you can also include residents and visitors.)
  5. Assess and improve your current Hand Hygiene and Glove Use policies/procedures and implementation practices.

Resources/tools to implement any of these actions can be found at Living the Pledge.
