Do You Have Assisted Living Required Postings?

Posted on September 23, 2021 by Bobbie Guidry

As we settle into the new assisted living requirements, it is a good time for self-auditing. According to the new law, an assisted living must post the following:

  • AL License – at main entry (original, current)
  • Emergency Disaster Plan (prominently)
  • Emergency Exit Diagrams on Each Floor
  • 911 (common areas and by phones provided by the facility)
  • MN Adult Abuse Reporting Center Information and reporting number
  • Staffing schedule for the shift – on the main floor
  • Grievance Procedure (conspicuous location)

Although not a requirement specific to assisted living only, the electronic monitoring regulation, 144.6502, also requires a specifically worded posting. A facility must post a sign at each facility entrance accessible to visitors that states: "Electronic monitoring devices, including security cameras and audio devices, may be present to record persons and activities."

A complete self-audit checklist of the assisted living statute required postings and disclosures is available on the LeadingAge Minnesota Assisted Living Webpage.
