New Member Resource: A Guide to Effective Individual Development Plans

Posted on September 29, 2022 by Anna Mowry

September is National Workforce Development Month and to celebrate a new member resource,  A Guide to Effective Individual Development Plans, is now available.

What is an Individual Development Plan?

Individual Development Plans (IDPs) offer an opportunity for managers and staff to work together to encourage growth and advancement. These plans are co-written between staff and their supervisors during one-on-one conversations and can lead to engaged staff who feel supported and encouraged by their manager.

Developed by our partners at LeadingAge, this new resource includes a getting starting guide with templates, agendas, and scripts to help managers engage and encourage growth with their staff. When IDPs are developed and put into action, staff grow their skills and organizations see more engaged, dedicated, and empowered team members.

Celebrate National Workforce Development Month

LeadingAge Minnesota is proud to celebrate and support the aging services workforce all month long. Join the celebration by getting involved:

  • Keep aging services workforce issues front-and-center by joining the Aging Services Workforce Now campaign
  • Raise awareness of the meaningful career opportunities in aging services by posting your open positions to AgingServicesJobs.org! Members receive a reduced rate of only $39 per posting by using the coupon code "Aging2022"
  • Download turn-key member resources for social media toolkits and templates to share and celebrate National Workforce Development Month
  • Check out our Workforce Center for more member resources on staff development, recruitment, and retention
