Drive Advocacy by Sharing Caregiver and Senior Voices with Your Networks

Posted on April 13, 2023 by Dan Nelson

LeadingAge Minnesota is launching a statewide digital advocacy campaign featuring a series of videos that tell the stories of caregivers and seniors. The goal of the campaign is to drive advocacy at a critical time in the legislative session.

We will be sharing these videos through paid ads across several platforms and our own social media campaign. Our hope is to spread the word about the need to fund long-term care and get more Minnesotans to contact their lawmakers. We want your help to spread the word across our state!

Why it matters

We are in the final stretch of the legislative session – the next six weeks will determine how long-term care is included in the state budget. This campaign is another critical tactic to make our voices heard and bring the rest of Minnesota with us. For the campaign to have maximum impact, we need collective action and help from as many people as possible to spread the word.

Watch the videos

We've uploaded all of the videos to YouTube for easy viewing and sharing. Take a look, then take action!

  • Full length video featuring caregivers and seniors (5:50)
  • 30-second ad with a strong call to action (0:36)
  • Short video focused on access to care for seniors (1:56)
  • Short video focused on paying caregivers the wages they deserve (1:53)
  • "We are" video to inspire others in our own community to take action (0:37)

How to participate

Being a part of this campaign is simple – share whichever videos you like with your networks.

  • You can like and share via social media. LeadingAge Minnesota will promote all of the videos on our platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • If you’d like to promote the videos via your own channels, you have full access to the digital files. You can find those videos at this link on DropBox.
  • Encourage people in your life to take action – each video has a QR code that leads to an action alert where individuals can contact their lawmakers.

The videos vary in length from 30 seconds to five minutes, so share whichever makes the most sense for your audience. You can share from your organization’s social media, and/or your personal accounts. The more people we reach, the greater the impact.

You can also direct people to our website, where they can watch one of the videos and take action directly.

Thank you

We greatly appreciate all the members who contributed their time and talents to this project. Our sincere thanks go to Amanda Gruber from Three Links in Northfield and the entire team at The Wellstead of Rogers for participating.
