MN licensed LTC administrators interested in kick starting their earned clock hours for the 2020/21 licensure cycle are in luck. The following LeadingAge Minnesota virtual events have been approved for clock hours.

The Annual Meeting & Leadership Forum is virtual this year and much of the educational content focuses on strategic approaches related to COVID-19. Back-to-back sessions on Thursday, Sept. 17 will help leaders explore financial scenario planning in the COVID-19 world. 

This year has taught us the devastating impact when human connection is lost. Dr. John Brose, Director of the Associated Clinic of Psychology, and Jane Danner, Director of Resident Engagement and Development for Volunteers of America, are teaming up for the first time on Aug. 20 to deliver Combatting the Negative Impact of Isolation and Loneliness of Resident Wellbeing. This general session kicks off the second day of the two-day Connect Conference. 

Join us Aug. 3 to hear three new approaches to delivering alternative adult day services. Alternative adult day services became a necessity during this pandemic and the services are currently approved by the Minnesota Department of Human Services through June 2021. 

Joe Schmit, long-time sportscaster for KSTP-TV, is the featured keynote speaker at the 2020 Virtual Connect Conference on Aug. 19. His presentation, Living an Impactful Life: Building Positive Connections, delivers a powerful message about our need for human connections and making an impact on others.

It’s a sign of the times. Due to the continued social distancing guidance and diligence in protecting the people who serve our older adults, we have made the decision to convert all remaining education and conferences to online virtual events this year.

Our annual summer conference for senior housing, assisted living and home care is the first major event to be offered in virtual format. Connect Conference is two days of education and networking. Local television personality Joe Schmit is the opening keynote speaker on Aug.19.  

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has waived the 8-hour training requirement for Paid Feeding Assistants during the public health emergency. Our partners at EduCare have released the only MDH approved expedited curriculum in Minnesota, which is a 2.5 hour online course with competencies. There is no cost to this program.  

Time is running out to register for the Dementia Care Certificate Program that begins next week.
