Inclusive Hiring in Action: New Videos, Webinars and Employer Tools

Posted on August 6, 2026 by Anna Mowry

New videos, on-demand webinars and practical tools help aging services providers recruit, support, and retain New American employees while creating stronger, more welcoming workplaces for everyone.

New Americans are essential to the present and future of Minnesota’s aging services workforce. As our workforce becomes increasingly diverse, providers are finding new ways to welcome employees from different cultural, linguistic and professional backgrounds—and help them build successful, lasting careers.

LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation has launched a collection bringing together videos, webinars and practical resources designed to support this work. The collection offers strategies providers can use throughout the employee experience, from recruitment and onboarding to engagement, retention and advancement.

Hear Directly from Aging Services Leaders

A new part of the collection includes The Business Case for Inclusive Hiring: Provider Insights, a series of brief interviews with leaders from aging services organizations across Minnesota.

These leaders share what they have learned about building inclusive workplaces, supporting New American employees and strengthening their organizations:

  • Gladys Jassam, The Farmstead, Presbyterian Homes & Services, discusses how embracing diversity and creating opportunities for New Americans can strengthen the aging services workforce.
  • Tecla Welch, Catholic Eldercare, explains why guidance, recognition and trust help employees succeed and contribute to stronger teams.
  • Mary Tjosvold, Mary T. Inc., shares how an inclusive workplace helps employees feel respected, supported and empowered.
  • Roger White, Mount Olivet Careview Homes, describes how investing in employees and community relationships supports recruitment, retention and workforce growth.
  • Kathleen Murray, Benedictine, explores how new talent pipelines and New American employees are helping shape the future of aging services.
  • Tasha Spencer, The Sanctuary at Brooklyn Center, discusses how relationship-centered leadership helps employees feel valued and inspired to stay.
  • Adam White, Mount Olivet Careview Homes, shares how trust, authentic leadership and meaningful relationships create a workplace where employees can thrive.

Together, their stories demonstrate that inclusive hiring is more than a stand-alone workforce initiative. It is a practical strategy for developing stronger teams, improving workplace culture and supporting high-quality care and services.

Turn Ideas into Action with On-Demand Webinars

Providers can also access all four sessions in the From Recruitment to Retention: Supporting New American Employees webinar series – now at no cost and on demand.

The webinars provide practical guidance to help organizations:

  • Build stronger connections with New American communities and job seekers
  • Create more welcoming recruitment and onboarding experiences
  • Improve communication across languages and cultures
  • Strengthen employee belonging, engagement and retention
  • Help New American employees identify opportunities for advancement

Organizations can use the sessions for leadership development, supervisor education, human resources planning or team discussion. Because the webinars are available on demand, providers can watch the full series or begin with the topics most relevant to their current workforce needs.

Explore the wider collection of resources

The provider videos and webinars are part of a broader collection developed by LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation to help employers recruit, welcome, support and retain New American employees.

The collection also includes:

  • How to Recruit, Retain & Advance New Americans in the Aging Services Workforce, a 64-page interactive employer guide accompanied by 13 worksheets, checklists and practical tools
  • A multilingual audio glossary featuring 186 common aging services terms and definitions in English, Hmong, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog and Ukrainian
  • A five-part, documentary-style career exploration video series introducing New Americans to aging services careers, available in English, French, Hmong, Oromo, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog and Ukrainian
  • An interactive map connecting employees and their families with more than 250 community organizations, workforce programs and family supports
  • Multilingual learning journals and test-preparation resources for participants in the Foundation’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program

Developed with support from the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ GEAR Division, these resources were shaped by New American employees and aging services employers to reflect both lived experience and workplace realities.

Whether your organization is beginning to explore inclusive hiring or strengthening practices already underway, this collection can help turn good intentions into practical action.
