Celebrate Week 2 of National Nurses Month

Every year, the American Nurses Association (ANA) celebrates National Nurses Month in May to promote, support, and honor the varying roles of nurses and the positive impacts they make in our communities every day.

This year, the 2022 National Nurses Month theme is "Nurses Make a Difference." For each week of the month, there is a new focus area. This week's focus is "recognition" to show gratitude for the invaluable contributions of nurses.

Week 2: Recognition (May 8–14)

Nurses are not just vital to the health of their patients but also to the health of the communities they serve and the future of our healthcare systems. We should honor the nurse's role, recognize the impacts of their work, and continue to celebrate their many contributions. This week, it's also important to raise visibility and understanding of nurses' critical work with your community and local elected officials.

See below for more ideas on how to get involved this week.

Looking Ahead

Week 3: Professional Development (May 15–21) Promote the professional

development of nurses to help inspire and lead others in their nursing career journey.

Week 4: Community Engagement (May 22–31) Educate your communities on the vital role nurses play and how they can get involved to support our current and future nurses.
