The Long-Term Care Imperative recently completed an analysis of care center occupancy for the first three quarters of this year, and it shows some improvement in the third quarter. However, the modest uptick still puts occupancy far below pre-pandemic levels.

Starting last week, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is conducting a weekly survey on vaccination in long-term care settings. The survey allows MDH and the provider associations to track the progress of vaccination of residents and staff in sites across the state. Providers are asked to visit the vaccine REDcap survey link each Wednesday to updated their information.

Care Center Employee Retention Unchanged in 2017

Attracting and retaining employees has been a significant challenge in recent years, and retention rates are a key indicator of the ability of care centers to meet staffing needs in a competitive labor market and to provide the continuity of care that is necessary for good client outcomes. In 2017, retention was relatively good news in that the gains that occurred in 2016 were maintained in the most recent year.
